I imagine the pitch for this show was "It's 'Game of Thrones' meets 'Sons of Anarchy'! But, you know, kind of historical." Lusty, blood and thunder story of Viking raiders. If you've seen GOT, you'll notice a lot of similarities. Hell, there are even ravens. Maybe the one novelty is its focus on their religious practices. It looks good, even if too many scenes are low-lit, and the acting is solid, even if all the guys kinda look the same. Gabriel Bryne is the only name actor. If you're going to watch one show about Vikings though, I'd definitely make it "Vikings."

Addictive series, visually appealing (locations/sets and cast), heroic and interesting/complex characters, gender-equal society. The charm of these Vikings is that in spite of their lust for bloody battles and conquest, their everyday manner is ridiculously soft-spoken -- "ridiculous" because they are soft-spoken all the time, all of them. This is a nice break from the usual barbarian swordfight shows with the men incessantly spit-screaming. Extra points for the absence of shrieking whimpering victim/sex-object females.
Nit-picks: (1) slow-paced/dragged-out at times; (2) redundancy in the acting - all the men seem to do this wannabe-menacing head-tilt thing. It doesn't come off as a cultural mannerism; more like everyone trying to copy Ragnar.

Is it historically accurate - no. Do I care - no. I took a few episodes to warm to the characters but I have just finished season 4 and am eagerly awaiting the 5th season. If you like Game of Thrones this could be of interest. A fine world of character building, intrigue, politics and religion. A sophisticated night time soap opera.

I love this television show. The actors do a good job and I love that there is action in the show. It focuses on the Vikings raids in England and France.and is similar to Game of Thrones.

One of my favorite tv series ever. NOT for kids though.

This is a really good series. One of the better fictional historical dramatic action-packed shows out. The battle scenes are amazing and I love Lagatha and Ragnar. I prefer this season to the second.

There is a rough bunch of characters in this series and while I don’t care much for their fate, the story is engaging.

A good series. It's bloody & violent. It appears to be well researched. I'm looking forward to season 2.

Decent series that starts out slow, but after some character development, it picks up. Provided enough interest for me to watch season 2. However, if season 2 is more of the same thing, I'll probably stop there.
