GREAT 1974 movie version of Mame starring Lucille Ball at age 63. Interesting contrast to the Rosalind Russell 1958 Auntie Mame film - both are well worth a watch.

I LOVE this movie. You really feel that the Lucy version of Mame loves Patrick. The straight movie version Mame is more like a drag queen. Plus Robert Preston!!! Need I say more.

Gotta agree with Seki. The original is almost always better. Especially in this case. Go with the Ros version.

This translation from stage to movie did not work. If you are a hard core Bea Arthur.Lucille Ball or Robert Prestion fan, skip this movie. This movie is very short on a start to finish dialog and but great song and dance numbers.
Watch the Rosalind Russell version, sans music instead. You will appreciate what Patrick Dennis had achieved in the book version.
