A good chic flik.
I found this movie to be a mature, wonderful, warm, charming romantic-comedy even thou it's a time-worn plot. The script and directing are top notch. Brosnan's acting is adequate. Trine Dyrholm and especially Paprika Steen in a supporting role are gems. It's almost worth watching for the Italian scenery.
Ya its a chic-flic but its a good one.
I saw the movie and I did not like it this is not for children to watch
I enjoyed it, even though parts of it were tough to watch, schlocky, and you knew the happy ending was a given. I love the twists from the first reveal of infidelity, to the sexual orientation of the groom, to the awkward moments that are throughout this film. My emotions were engaged on behalf of the son wanting approval, hoping the marriage doesn't go through, etc. But it was sweet in the long run. Sometimes in life you just need that.
Enjoyable rom-com which never gets too silly or sweet, but the real star of the movie is the spectacular setting of Sorrento,Italy.
Patrick and Astrid are getting married at his father’s opulent Italian villa, but on the eve of the festivities things proceed to go from bad to worse. Even though Astrid’s parents are still married, her boorish father shows up with his very young girlfriend in tow much to the dismay of Ida, her mother who is still recovering from a brush with breast cancer. Meanwhile Patrick’s father Philip, a truculent widower still bitter over his wife’s death, is in need of a few lessons in tact even though he is strangely (and predictably) drawn to Ida. Lastly, the soon-to-be newlyweds are having a few issues of their own. With its cloying soundtrack, interminable sunsets, and smothering atmosphere of forced romance nothing in this saccharine slopfest rings true; and the fact that director Susanne Bier stoops to playing the cancer card (a surefire way to get those hankies out) is shameful. But the gorgeous CGI-enhanced Italian vistas and moonlit palm trees will ultimately convince most pedestrian audiences that they’ve just sat through something wonderful. Gag.
a wonderful thought provoking movie. excellent ways to deal with cancer and the people around her.
This is a delightful movie, even if a little predictable, but i would watch it for the glorious scenery alone. There are some subtitles, but a lot of it is in English too.
I loved this. It's the definition of a "feel good movie". Very heart warming & romantic. Beautiful scenery - worth watching the movie just for this. Enjoyed Pierce & the Danish lead actress - she was delightful.
