A classic on person who created steampunk.
HE INHERITED A WATCHMAKER'S STORE - AND A WHOLE HEAP OF TROUBLE. But idle sometime-musician George has little talent for clockwork. And when a shadowy figure tries to steal an old device from the premises, George finds himself embroiled in a mystery of time travel, music and sexual intrigue. A genuine lost classic, a steampunk original whose time has come.
Wish I could read it!!! I cannot read binary directly. Obviously there is a printed version because of the preview.
This is the first "Steampunk" novel I have read and though the story itself was fun and moved along at a good pace with interesting characters I found the horrid editing hard to look past. Mis-punctuated sentences, grammatical and spelling errors abound!! Being from an arbiter of the genre and the author who penned its nomicre I found this insulting and editorially lax.
Jeter penned the term "steampunk." Victorian adventure story with hapless protagonist and exotic characters. Great atmosphere, if a bit hectic in the action. Must read if you're interested in the roots of the genre.
