As someone with no personal memory of the JFK era, but a child of the Cold War, I felt this book provided a valuable service in illuminating the world that Kennedy and Americans experienced. Covers a range of subjects important to the presidency. Civil rights at home, the space race, the erecting of the Berlin wall, and nuclear threats and brinkmanship all find a place in this compilation.

"Kennedy steered the nation away from the brink of nuclear war, initiated the first nuclear test ban treaty, created the Peace Corps, and launched American on its mission to the moon and beyond." And JFK's administration appointed those who founded and financed the Internet, leading to the eventual creation of the World Wide Web. He also pushed for the creation of the Navy SEALS, and kept the Army SpeciaL Forces from being dissolved; moving them towards aiding global pro-democracy insurgencies - - which would be dropped under President Reagan, sadly, who utilized special forces on behalf of the multinationals.
