Very good film. There are effective women; just very few, so hard to find. Too many like Merkel the jerkel.

Interesting show about how code breaking was used to solve the mystery of local women being murdered by a serial killer. It was slow at times for the storyline, thus the reason for a 3 star rating. Update: I just saw the second season and thought it was much more exciting compared to the first season. So if you've just finished watching this first season and you're not sure if you'll like to see more, I highly recommend you to continue on and watch the second season because it's even better! :)

Subtitles are a good size, white with no background
Love it! British have definately got the right concept in using people who are not 'drop-dead gorgeous', just normal everyday women, men & children. Love the way each women compliments the group to make for an awesome team. The filming is not just thrown together & truly feels like the 50's...the wardrobes really portray each actress/actors' charachter, giving emotion to the overall feel of this series.

A team of women decided to look into a series of murders using their complimentary skills: eidetic memory, pattern recognition, intelligence gathering and outside-the-box thinking. Relative to other female sleuth genre from European TV, like it a lot more than "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries," a bit more than "Mr & Mrs Murder" and about the same as the Swedish TV series "Crimes of Passion 2014." From DVD behind the scenes: The Bletchley Circle is the story of four women who, during the war years, work at Bletchley Park. Who forge a bond of friendship during those years, but who then don't see each other afterwards, and who, by the mid-'50s, are leading totally different lives. Lives in which they have kept their wartime jobs a secret from husbands and boyfriends. But one of them, Susan, starts to see a pattern in a series of killings that have been happening through London. A pattern she believes the police have missed. And it's that which draws her back into the world of patterns and codes, and trying to make sense of something that appears chaotic and random. The whole premise of the piece is that these are ordinary women thrown into extraordinary circumstances.

Really enjoyed 4 women who were code breakers during WWII in England get together many years later to solve a mystery using their code skills. Didn't suffer a dull moment watching this episode.

This was a very interesting series as it brought together a disparit team from World War II about 5 to 7 years later. Good mix of suspensful episodes and appreciated having Closed Captioning. Showed a little of what it was like in post-WWII England as to how the two sexes were treated. Definitely liked Series 1 better than Series 2, but recommend watching both. Glad Tulsa Library have so many of the English mystery mini-series.

'Bletchley Circle' is a series featuring smart women.
Decided to watch this series again over the holidays and got a lot more out of it on the second watching. Not only is it a very good mystery but this series also looks at the changing roles of women.
All the four main characters, Susan, Millie, Lucy and Jean, had been code breakers at the top secret Bletchley Park during the second world war. Cracking the pattern of a serial killer is a chance for them to use these skills as the lives they have in post-war England don't allow them to do this.
There are also hints of what is to come for the characters? For example, what really happened between Susan and Millie and why is Susan so determined to continue in her stultifying marriage? More is revealed in the second series for these characters as well as another mystery to solve and then the series was cancelled. Too bad

I watch and enjoy a lot of the BBC series. Never heard of ts before I picked it up. Was so engrossed, watched series 1 in one sitting and have ordered series 2.
Great story and great acting held my attention through the entire thing.

Susan: All those troops are on the move now because of us. Not bad for a few ordinary girls in a tin hut ... Why are you laughing?
Millie: "Ordinary girls". You couldn't be ordinary if you tried.
Susan: When this is over, won't we have to be ordinary?
Millie: I won't let you.
