It is a good movie for older children who are interested in martial arts. Must be able to read well due to the captions. Good acting, interesting storyline

Don't look for plot but not a disappointment because of the cinematography, the beautiful fight scenes and the Empress (who belongs in "Star Wars"...)

Over-the-top special effects, strong characterization, and a creative plot make this a fun action movie to watch. Fabulous recreations of Tang Dynasty China, mixed with some modern elements. Gorgeous costumes, good fight scenes (Sammy Ho choreographed) with different weapons -- each of the three main characters has a weapon that reflects their personalities. The extras that explain some of how the movie was made are excellent, although too short. Recommended. :-)

A spectacular, fast moving, kung fu film that takes time to dwell a little on the beautiful for the sake of beauty. Andy Lau does a great job as Detective Dee, a 7th century Sherlock Holmes of the Tang Dynasty. The plot is intricate and involuted but easy enough to follow. The closest thing I could compare this to is the comics/video game action genre (which owes A LOT to the Hong Kong kung fu films) that is dominating the movies these days, and this is a really, really good one. Fine film making all the way through and a real treat if you are a fan of high quality kung fu movies.

This movie was a mixture of a lot of different things, good and bad. The story line was rather simple, the action sceens not as long as I would have expected, but somehow it kept my interest.
