An acquaintance suggest these authors and I have read Sandman and tried one other (sorry do not remember the title) but I do not think I will be looking to read any more of there books. Not a fan

Reminder from the Fire Witness - I am a huge fan of Scandinavian mysteries / police procedurals, and know they tend to be dark, but this author / book exceeds even my limit on sadism and violence. I am going to cross this author off my…

I liked this one a lot. While it was long for me (440+ pages and an epilogue, 181 very short chapters), there was not nearly as much filler stuff as I expected. I loved that there was very little philosophical navel-gazing! What little…

I really love Lars Kepler’s works, and I believe that their horror novels are some of the best out there. This book did nothing but strengthen that statement. Joona Linna, a brilliant detective, is back and after finding a man who should…

Excellent! Suspenseful, mysterious, and I couldn't put it down! Very scary and well written. Great for the Halloween season. I will definitely check out more out by this author.

One of the best series coming from Scandinavia these days. This is my second reading of this book, and it was just as good the second time through. This team finds a wonderful balance of giving us enough detail without overwhelming us with…

Roller coaster ride. Some longish sections. Good book overall. Seems that Joona Linna took second fiddle to sidekick Saga. And what's the deal with all those chapter?

Exceptionally formulaic, but I do like a reliable formula when my brain's gone to sleep in mid-summer. While detective Joona Linna continues to have convenient migraines to ratchet up tension when the plot starts to plod, this was…

The formulaic "super cop" meets "super villain" story. Incredibly suspenseful, a real page turner, but at the same time, absurdly far fetched. I agree with the past reviewer about the necessity of suspension of disbelief. OK read because…

Could not put the book down until the very last page, a must read for those wanting a suspenseful mystery.

Not the best Joona Linna book in the series. The plot was a bit far fetched and required the reader's suspension of disbelief, however it was entertaining. A better read was The Hypnotist.

The Lars Keplar books are not even worth a try. There are more and more Nordic mystery novels of poor quality and Keplar's books are prime examples. They have nothing to do with the worthwhile books of Swojal and Wahloo, Mankell and…

This fourth book in the series is the best one so far - a real page turner with lots of twists. Ending frustrated me as now there's the wait for the next book.

I enjoyed this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat with its suspense. Bit too long and I didn't read every page because of this. But overall, a good book. Will continue to read Lar Kepler's books.

This is the fourth book in the Joona Linna series. A prolific serial killer (Jurek Walter) has been in a maximum security psychiatric facility for years, serving a life sentence in isolation. A young man (Mikael) has been found walking by…

The story was intriguing at first, but the plot became totally implausible and impossible. I raced to the end just to see how they would wrap it up, it became more and more ludicrous. Can't recommend it.

Psychological thriller, third in the series with Joona Linna. (Just as in Stig Larsen's trilogy, the Scandinavian names still don't come easy to me so I call him Jonah :) This one's the best of the three. Gripping while at times almost…

The best in the series so far...can't wait for the next book. The ending is a cliff hanger. One of the most suspenseful books I've ever read. Terrifying! A true page turner!
