So frustrated! I have read the first two books in the series, and have been waiting 2 read this one. But still haven't gotten it! But I loved Vienna Prelude and Prague Counterpoint, so I can be patient a little longer.

Loved actors and actresses, the sing was beautiful, the phantom did a very could job of being creepy. However, I did not enjoy the words to "The Point of No Return," and did not enjoy when a guy pulled down his pants. But for the most part, I enjoyed it. My favorite song is "All I ask of you". It was a novelty when anyone actually spoke rather then sing! Beautiful and amazing story. Never thought of Hosea's story much before, but this really brings it to life, and shows how much God loves us, because in spite of how many times we wander from Him, he still cares for us. Five stars!

When I first began this diary, I did not like it very much. But as I continued tor read, I fell in love with it, with all the characters in it-even Teresa's pesky little sister, Antoinetta (Netta). Good job, Jim Murphy!
Summary:
Teresa Angelino Viscardi is angry with her grandmother, her uncle, and her father for making her leave her home and travel far to her new home. She records this in her diary. Her little sister, Antoinetta, or Netta, sneaks and reads the diary, and writes in it. Teresa becomes reconciled to this. Along the way, Teresa's uncle and father get the "silver fever" and go the silver mines, promising to catch up with their families later. Soon, Teresa's family members become ill, and they stay behind. Teresa's grandmother and herself must go find her uncle and father. After a battle with thieves, they find them and hurry back, only to find Teresa's sister Netta has died. Heartbroken, they bury her, and continue on. They are almost home, and though Teresa's heart is sad, she is full of hope for a good life in her new home.Teresa Angelino Viscardi is angry with her grandmother, her uncle, and her father for making her leave her home and travel far to her new home. - I woke to sleet hitting the window and another sound I'd not heard before. A drumbeat. Papa came in from milking and said, "The soldiers are coming." ...Finally, through the gray, we saw them. Three officers on horseback led. We ran outside to cheer, but the men were quiet and thin. The sight of them took my breath away. "They have no shoes," Elisabeth whispered. We watched for several minutes as they passed by. We were unable to speak. Their footprints left blood in the snow.I woke to sleet hitting the window and another sound I'd not heard before. - The baby is sick. Elisabeth and I have stayed home from school to help. When I tucked Sally into her trundle last night she threw her arms around my neck sobbing, "Shall this baby die like the others?" Elisabeth kneeled to kiss Sally, but she, too, began to weep, then so did I. Mama has birthed nine children; three girls-that's us- and now six boys. We have not had a brother live through his first winter. After Sally had cried herself to sleep, Elisabeth and I lay in bed whispering. Soon she was quiet. I crept across the cold floor to look out the window. The creek looked like a silver ribbon winding its way among the trees toward the Schuylkill River and the house were Mrs. Hewes lives. Her upstairs window glowed with candlelight, and I hoped she was awake, praying for our baby. I was.The baby is sick. Elisabeth and I have stayed home from school to help. I'm reading this book right now and really enjoying it! In style it differs from the other diaries in the Dear America series, but it is very interesting and enjoyable. Love how Pringle's parents chose to keep their son, Gideon, in spite of his physical problems, instead of sending him to an orphanage, or, as is would happen today, aborting him. <3I'm reading this book right now and really enjoying it! - "I've been appointed guardian," said Uncle Edward. "Whose guardian?" I asked. Uncle Edward gave me the most curious look. "Why, your guardian. Yours and Gideon's.' A nail driven through my heart! "Your aunt and I have always wanted more children," he said. "She's never gotten over losing little Eddie, you know." My hands began to jump involuntarily. I clasped them to keep them still.
